DELIVERY METHOD

In the last 30 years, there has been a significant increase in cesarean delivery rates all over the world. According to US figures, the rate of cesarean section increased by 50% between 1996-2015 and reached 32%. Roughly one in every three infants in the US today is delivered by cesarean section. In our country, the rate of caesarean section, which was approximately 40% in 2006, started to decrease with the support campaigns of the Ministry of Health and Obstetrics and Gynecology Societies. Regardless of the way of birth, our goal should be a healthy mother and healthy fetus. Pain control through epidural anesthesia is one of the most important contributions of modern medicine to vaginal delivery. This practice, known as Epidural Anesthesia may be an important method to increase vaginal birth rates.

If pregnancy follow-up is went uneventful, the decision on the type of delivery cannot be determined until the last weeks. The most important medical factors affecting this decision are:

   • Fetal position

   • Estimated Fetal weight

   • Placenta location

   • Harmony of the Fetus with the birth canal

Considering the above factors, a basic idea about the way of birth occurs before the birth. Apart from above assessment main cesarean indications are:

   * Abnormal vaginal bleeding

   * Seperation of placenta from uterine Wall before birth( Abruption of Placenta)

   * Growth retardation of the fetus together with significant placental insufficiency

   * Critical changes in fetal  heartbeat (NST test)

   * Arrested labor
